Big Multiple Sclerosis Data Network - BMSD network
The Big Multiple Sclerosis Data Network (BMSD network) is a collaborative initiative comprising national registries and international databases. It is designed to facilitate large-scale multiple sclerosis research by leveraging high data volumes to achieve greater statistical power. In addition to RISM, the network currently includes registries from France, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, and the Czech Republic, as well as the Australia-based international MSBase database.
The BMSD network is recognized by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) as a high-quality initiative capable of providing robust data for regulatory and scientific studies, including Post-Authorization Safety Studies (PASS). As of January 2025, the Italian RISM group has taken over the coordination of the network.
